Central region seeks response measures against Super Typhoon Noru

In Phu Yen province, a total of 396 fishing vessels with approximately 2,380 people on board have now found shelter from the incoming storm. Border guards in Quang Ngai province called back vessels operating at sea, urging them to move to shore before 8 a.m. on September 27. Local authorities in Quang Ngai province plan to evacuate a total of 24,600 households before 6 p.m. on September 27, including 84,400 people from areas at risk of flash floods and landslides, amid Super Typhoon Noru heading to the central region. “Spanish melody” concert set to thrill Hanoi audiences

The concert is part of activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Spain, as well as the 80th anniversary of Spain’s National Day. The show will feature performances by renowned Spanish and Vietnamese artists, including pianist Pablo Galdo, pianist Tran Thi Tam Ngoc, and guitarist Vu Duc Hien. Pablo Galdo is an exceptional Spanish pianist famous for his great technique who has gained a number of prizes in various piano competitions over the years. Hanoi artisan preserves the art of making toy figurines

He has devoted his talent and passion to preserving these traditional toys and promoting them to the outside world.  Dang Van Hau was born in Xuan La hamlet into a family with a tradition of making toy figurines. Hau learned to make To he when he was a boy. Eventually his creativity began winning him prizes in craft competitions. Hau was awarded the title “Hanoi Artisan” in 2014, the youngest person ever to receive the title. Hau’s research uncovered ways to make the dough more durable. “I have restored the traditional figurines typical of Phu Xuyen district, Pho Khach, and the Old Quarter. We aim to create toys typical of Vietnamese culture, rather than figures of foreign superheroes or princess Elsa. What is it like to get a haircut on the street in Ho Chi Minh City?

The street haircut is not unique to Ho Chi Minh City, but for centuries, the streets of Saigon have been filled with these lone businessmen, servicing the community whilst fighting the heat, weather, and evolution of the city to stay in business and make a living.  Having lived in Ho Chi Minh City for almost a decade, I have ridden past these street haircut services around the city, and in the countryside, and not given them a second thought. When I get a haircut, I like the relaxation of a cool room, pleasant smells of the creams and lotions, and quietness of a room closed off to the outside traffic. But I just didn’t know what I was missing by avoiding the street barbers in Ho Chi Minh City.  In a backstreet of District 1, Vinh stands under a makeshift canopy. Every morning around 8:00 am, he brings his entire haircut operation on his motorbike, chair included, and spends about 30 minutes setting up for the day.
