More than 80 monitoring stations of independent air-quality analysis system PamAir show that the air-quality index is mainly red, indicating a bad level, and purple, showing a very bad level. The capital is left covered in dense smog, even at midday. According to experts, Hanoi and neighbouring northern provinces are currently entering a phase of deteriorating air quality. The noted that besides the main factors such as of traffic, construction, and waste burning, the weather conditions of winter have also contributed to worsen pollution in the city.
