Vietnam Wins Golds at 2022 International Circus Festival

The festival featured nearly 30 circus acts by more than 100 artists from four Vietnamese troupes and five international troupes from Canada, Belarus, Laos, Cambodia, and Egypt. Photo: Quang Tan The 2022 International Circus Festival, which saw the participation of nine domestic and foreign troupes, closed on December 7 at Hanoi Central Circus after a week of brilliant performances, VNA & VOV reported. The Dec. 2-7 event was jointly arranged by the Performing Arts Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Stage Artists’ Association, the Vietnam Circus Federation, and other relevant organizations. Exhibition revives memory of victory against American aerial bombing

On display are 84 documents, photos and artefacts about the 12-day battle archived by the Hanoi Centre for Historical Archives, the National Archives Centre III, Hanoi Museum and Vietnam News Agency. They manifest the smart leadership by the Party and bravery of the army and the people in the north, especially in the capital, in the battle which subsequently led to the signing of the Paris Accord on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam. In the battle, dubbed as “Dien Bien Phu in the air”, the north sustained over 80,000 tonnes of bomb. Hanoi forces alone shot down 23 B-52 strategic bombers and captured 43 pilots, inflicting an unprecedented defeat on US forces. One Pillar Pagoda: a symbol of Hanoi’s millennial culture

The formation, which is identified as lenticular clouds, floated over Chua Chan Mountain on Friday morning. The clouds appeared at around 6:00 am, were most obvious at 7:00 am, and lasted until 8:00 am, according to Nguyen Duc Tan, a local living at the foot of the mountain. Handless Vietnamese man overcomes disability to support mother

“Thank you for supporting us. Now we afford our daily expenses, including the hospital bills and school fees,” said 27-year-old Duong Huu Phuc in a recent update on his TikTok account. Phuc, a native of Lang Son Province in northern Vietnam, lost both his hands at the age of 19 during an oxygen tank explosion. Over the past eight years, he has worked to overcome his disability and presently runs an online store where he sells handmade animal piglet and puppy puppets. Though his store is a success, it took several years following the accident for Phuc to get his life back on track. “What is my life going to be like?” he often wondered, fearing his disability would prevent him from earning enough money to support both himself and his mother. From the street to social media Phuc has spent the past several years selling his handmade puppets on Hoan Kiem Pedestrian Street in Hanoi, where tourists and locals alike often applaud his sincerity and enthusiasm.
