Hanoi exhibition showcases 100 traditional branding proposals

An exhibition titled “100 Traditional Brand Identity Proposals for Hanoi” is underway at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Exhibition House in Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, and will run until June 4. Organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in cooperation with the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, the exhibition is expected to be a platform for students to showcase their creativity and ideas and a celebration of Hanoi’s traditional and cultural heritage.  Branding proposals are on display at the event. Overseas Vietnamese wins Silver Award at world’s prestigious flower exhibition

Photo:  Rose Cao’s Instagram  Rose Cao, or Cao Thi Huyen, is the first Vietnamese winning at the world’s most prestigious annual flower show organized by Britain’s Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in London from May 23 to 27. Rose said that her design depicts the image of a flame and uses a variety of flowers in shades of purple and yellow to create a natural light that shines down on the flower lamp post. According to the florist, in line with the Chelsea Flower Show’s criteria for the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly horticulture, her design does not use plastic. Unique collection of 14th century Bat Trang ceramic artifacts on display

The distinctive collection of Bat Trang pottery from the 14th to 20th century is on display at the National Museum of History on International Museum Day (May 18). The exhibition “Bat Trang Ancient Pottery” is divided into four parts, including “History of Establishment”, “Bat Trang Pottery in the 14th Century”, “Bat Trang Pottery in the 15th to 18th Century”, and “Bat Trang Pottery in the 19th to 20th Century”. With a long history of imbuing the quintessence with unique national cultural values, Bat Trang pottery has been collected and researched for many periods. Through the exhibition, the National History Museum aims to introduce a rich collection of glazed ceramics with historical, cultural, and artistic value to the domestic and foreign public, thereby raising awareness of preserving and promoting national cultural and historical values. Photo exhibition shows Uncle Ho’s love for Hanoi

Ho Chi Minh was always interested in culture, education, and respect for talent. Although he was swamped with work as a president, he visited Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, an icon of Vietnamese intelligentsia, three times (1945, 1960 and 1962). The photo was taken during his visit on January 26, 1960. The inscription of the examination held in 1442 reads: “Virtuous and talented men are the original vitality of a state”. President Ho Chi Minh inherited the tradition of honoring talented people in the nation’s history and developed new conditions for treating talents. During his lifetime, he often said, “We must cultivate talented people” because “nation-building needs talented people”. Photo Hanoi’23 is the first international art biennial to be held in the capital, reaffirming Hanoi’s determination to become the photography city of Asia. This event is jointly organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the French Institute in Vietnam to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-France relations. On this occasion, Thierry Vergon, Director of the French Institute in Vietnam, talks to T he Hanoi Times about the prospect of the event. Promoting the value of Hang Trong paintings by new experiments

Hang Trong folk paintings are frequently used as Tet décor or worshipping objects. Few people know that these paintings also depict the landscape and cultural practices of the populace. Visitors to the “Hang Trong folk paintings” exhibition, held by the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District, can reflect on the daily lives of farmers in the picture Rest or the society in the past in miniature in the painting Western Festival. Adding modernity to old art These paintings by Hang Trong artisans were restored to the traditional standards by artisan Le Dinh Nghien, and now they are in possession of collector Nguyen Quang Trung. Six Vietnamese billionaires listed among the wealthiest persons The global magazine Forbes has announced the list of the richest people in 2023, which includes six Vietnamese billionaires. Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of conglomerate Vingroup, still holds the highest position among the six Vietnamese billionaires with US$4.6 billion worth of assets. He is followed by Nguyen Phuong Thao, CEO of low-cost carrier Vietjet Air, Tran Dinh Long, chairman of the largest steel producer Hoa Phat, and Tran Ba Duong, chairman of the automobile manufacturer THACO. In 2022, there were seven Vietnamese billionaires on the list. Bui Thanh Nhon, chairman of Nova Group, was the one that got delisted from Forbes’ table. The year 2022 proved to be a rough time for all billionaires on the list. According to Forbes, the 25 richest men on the list saw their net asset value fall by US$200 billion to $2.1 trillion in 2023. Prime Minister arrives in Laos for the fourth Mekong River conference Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his senior delegation landed in Laos’ capital Vientiane late on April 4 to attend the Fourth Mekong River Commission meeting. The event, scheduled for April 5, will bring together government leaders from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, China and Myanmar, through which the Mekong River flows, and representatives from international organizations and societies. The event is an opportunity for the riparian countries to improve their implementation of the 1995 Mekong Agreement and to discuss challenges and opportunities in water management, sustainable development, environmental protection, and further activities for 2021-2030. The Mekong River Commission Conference was initiated in 2010 and is held every four years. Exhibition of traditional Japanese pottery to be opened in Hanoi

The ceramics exhibition titled “Yakishime – Earth Metamorphosis” will be held from April 4 to 20 at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, Hanoi, according to the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam. The poster of the “Yakishime – Earth Metamorphosis” provided by the Japan Foundation in Vietnam “Yakishime – Earth Metamorphosis” focuses on the ceramic technique of yakishime, the firing of unglazed wares at high temperatures. While one of the most basic means of producing ceramics, yakishime has developed in distinctive directions in Japan. This exhibition introduces an aspect of Japanese culture by examining yakishime from the earliest examples to contemporary works. The earliest known examples of yakishime ware date back to the fourth or fifth century. However, it was not until the twelfth through the seventeenth centuries that the technique became firmly established and was used in a significant portion of the production of the major ceramic cente
