Vietnam, Dominican Republic’s Parties Beef up Cooperation

Photo: VNA The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Dominican Republic’s United Left Movement (MIU) signed an agreement of cooperation for the 2023-2028 period in Hanoi on February 26. The deal was inked by Le Hoai Trung, member of the CPV Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations, and Miguel Mejia, General Secretary of the MIU. Under the agreement, the two parties will increase and enhance the effectiveness of delegation exchanges, while strengthening the exchange of information on the situation of each country and each party, and coordinating closely at forums of political parties in the region and the world. Vietnam impresses visitors at cultural festival in Egypt

The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt shows many documents, books and photos on culture, history, land and people of Vietnam, especially its outstanding achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal). Besides books on tourism introducing attractive destinations and unique features of regions, there also are magazines, photos, maps and documents and documentary screenings on Vietnam and the country’s specialities of fried spring rolls and coffee. The event is party of a series of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Egypt (1963-2023). The Sakia Exhibition for Cultural Services is held annually and allows countries to exchange cultural activities and boost solidarity and mutual understanding. Various activities to mark 80 year of Outline of Vietnamese Culture

The national workshop, due to take place on February 27, will bring together managers, scientists, and practitioners of culture and art who will examine the historical significance, great value, and influence of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture over the past 80 years. Delegates will propose solutions to effectively promote the value of the document for the purpose of cultural and human development in order to meet the country’s requirements for sustainable development. Both Party and State leaders, along with representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, and all 63 localities, will attend the workshop to be held both physically and virtually. In the Dao Do community, whether it is love match or an arranged marriage, the parents must ask a shaman to compare the age of the boy and girl. If their ages do not match, they can’t get married. If the shaman says they can become husband and wife, both families prepare for a wedding.  “The boy’s family visits the girl’s family for the proposal, engagement, and wedding ceremonies.They bring with them offerings such as chicken, pork, and some money,” said Dang Cha Chiu of Ham Yen district. At the first meeting the boy’s family designates a matchmaker to represent them to talk with the girl’s family. The matchmaker should be a respectable and well-spoken person and have a profound knowledge of the Dao customs and traditions.
