Festival promotes Indian culture in Hanoi

The event is designed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, known as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, 50 years of India-Vietnam diplomatic relations, India’s Presidency of G-20 and the International Year of Millets. President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, stated that the imprints and cultural values of India preserved in Vietnam, serve as an important bridge to deepen the understanding between the two peoples. She said she hopes that the festival would contribute to reinforcing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and India, created and cultivated by the two late leaders, Ho Chi Minh and Jawaharlal Nehru. Third pedestrian street zone opens in Hue

Many artists partake in a music gala which takes place immediately after the opening ceremony. A local girl dons a traditional Laotian costume to join in a street carnival at the event. The zone spans along Hai Ba Trung street and opens to tourists every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6 p.m. to 12 p.m. The site marks the third pedestrian zone in Hue after August 23 and Le Huan streets around the iconic Imperial Citadel and the backpacker precinct at the intersection of Vo Thi Sau, Chu Van An, and Pham Ngu Lao streets. Blood oath ceremony of the Mnong in Dak Lak

The stilt house of Y Thien Cil of Jie Yuk hamlet is cheerful with a chÆ°ng bor melody and the prayers of a shaman inviting deities to the twinning ceremony of Y Thien Cil and Y Nam Pan Ting. They have been close friends for many years and after the blood oath they will be blood brothers. The offerings are pork, steamed glutinous rice, bananas, eggs, a rooster, two brass bracelets, and two strings of glass beads. The two men and their wives sit in front of the offerings. Village chief Y Krai Cil is the shaman conducting the ritual: “Today the two men will swear an oath to become blood brothers. They have had a close relationship for a long time. I conduct this ritual to wish them good health and true brotherhood. Speaking at the meeting, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Doan Xuan Hung, who is also former Ambassador of Vietnam to Japan for the 2011-2015 term, Vice President of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association welcomed the members of the Organizing Committee to Vietnam. According to the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association, this exchange program is one of the special activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
