Vietnamese female striker to play in Portugal
Huynh Nhu departed for Portugal on Monday, according to news site VnExpress . The 31-year-old needs to pass a medical to officially join Portuguese football, which is competing in the European country’s first-tier Campeonato Nacional de Futebol Feminino, on a two-year contract. Announcing the news at a press briefing following her Ho Chi Minh City I team’s triumph at the 2022 Women’s National Cup on Sunday evening, Nhu said she anticipated difficulties in Portugal but she was ready to take on challenges. Portugal’s Lank FC Vilaverdense once tried to sign striker Nhu, midfielder Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung, and forward Pham Hai Yen in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic and complicated paperwork postponed the plan. Nhu won the Vietnamese National Championship seven times, the Women’s National Cup three times, and the National Sports Festival with Ho Chi Minh City I Women’s Football Club once.
