Vietnamese woman creates giant ‘non la’ model in Mekong Delta city

Dao Thi Cam Suong, the calligraphy artist behind the sculpture, said that she was inspired by her love for Can Tho, the local culture, and its residents. A ‘non la’ is a traditional Vietnamese conical hat typically made from bamboo and straw. Suong’s giant conical hat took 89 days to transform from idea to reality. Photo : T.Luy / Tuoi Tre It is made from 540 normal-sized ‘non la,’ each decorated with traditional Vietnamese calligraphy of proverbs, poems, folk songs related to the city, and the names of other cities and provinces from across Vietnam. The massive ‘non la’ measures eight meters in diameter and six meters tall. It currently holds the record for the ‘largest calligraphy conical hat model in Vietnam’ according to VietKings – Vietnam’s record keeping organization. The project was funded by a private company. UAE investments cross $10 billion, Says Ambassador

At the three-day annual conference of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI), Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to UAE, underlined that bilateral relations have been accelerating with a surge in two-way investments. “We have made rapid strides in bilateral relations since 2014,” he said during his keynote address at CREDAI NATCON 2022. Vietnam’s head coach to visit 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup venues in New Zealand

The month-long competition will take place from July 20 to August 20 next year in Australia and New Zealand — the first co-hosts in the history of the Women’s World Cup. A draw on Saturday put Vietnam in Group E with the U.S., the Netherlands, and an as-yet-unknown winner of the play-off among Thailand, Cameroon, and Portugal. All games in the group will be organized in New Zealand. According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women’s football team will take on the U.S. on July 22, 2023 in Auckland, the play-off winner on July 27, 2023 in Hamilton, and the Netherlands on August 1, 2023 in Dunedin.
