Thai culture preserved in Muong Tac

Muong Tac culture is a mixture of Thai and Muong ethnic minority cultures. The most prominent cultural features are the folk songs and dances of the Thai, the original inhabitants of the region. Amid rapid economic and social development, the Thai people of Muong Tac are working hard to preserve and promote their culture. In Muong Tac valley Thai people gather every night to sing and dance. Some are members of the Art Club of the Elderly, who share an ardent love and enthusiasm for their traditional arts. Bac Cam Ton, head of Quang Huy commune’s Art Club of the Elderly, shared, “The Club was established in 2014 with 60 members. Many other communes have come here to study our model. Warm, joyful lunar New Year celebration for troops on DK1 platform

A pot of orchids has been sent from Da Lat city, a famous land for orchid farming in Vietnam, to make the Tet celebration there more joyful. With gifts sent from the mainland, the troops there make Bánh ChÆ°ng (square shaped glutinous rice cake) – an indispensable dish of Vietnamese people during the Tet festival. The cake is wrapped in green Dong leaves that are available for harvesting a couple of weeks ahead of the Tet holiday. The soldiers are very excited about making the square cake. The troops are trimming a pot of yellow apricot blossom which is believed to bring happiness and good luck in the new year. The decoration of the ancestral altar receives great care from the troops. People in the capital head to the market to buy big, beautiful, and green dong leaves to pack their Chung cakes to enjoy a traditional New Year. Having 10 years of experience selling dong leaves at Tran Quy Cap market, local trader Le Thu Van says during the Tet holiday this year, every day she imports more than 100,000 dong leaves to sell to customers.   Dong leaves at the market are imported from various places, including from the provinces of Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Thanh Oai in Hanoi, and Phu Ly in Ha Nam. According to small traders, this year a pack of 100 leaves are priced at between VND100,000 and VND150,000 To choose the right dong leaves, many customers spend between 20 and 30 minutes selecting the ones they want. Dong leaves are an indispensable ingredient in wrapping Chung cakes during the traditional Tet holiday in Vietnam. Ngoc Chau wins swimsuit cape vote at Miss Universe 2022

The prize was recently announced on the page of the Miss Universe beauty contest following the grand final held on January 15 in the United States. Ngoc Chau initially departed for the international competition on December 26, 2022, and put in a series of strong performances at the contest. Most notably, her sledge mat national costume at the 71st Miss Universe was selected among the Top 10 by prestigious beauty pageant website Missosology. During the grand final, Chau suffered elimination from prior to the Top 16 round, marking the first time a Vietnamese representative has failed to make the later stages of the competition. In previous versions of the competition, H’Hen Nie, a Top 5 finisher in 2018, Hoang Thuy, Top 20 in 2019, Khanh Van, Top 21 in 2020, and Kim Duyen, Top 16 in 2021, had all represented Vietnam at the event. The establishment ceremony was held at the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s headquarters on January 22, one of the activities ahead of the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties this year. The association gathers generations of Israeli ambassadors, deputy ambassadors, and diplomats who used to work in Vietnam over the last 20 years. Some of them have retired or moved to the private sector but still maintain their special sentiment towards the Southeast Asian nation.
