Vietnam-RoK film exchange celebrates joint diplomatic ties
The festival was jointly organised by the UNESCO Bureau of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cinema Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korean Film Council. It coincided with President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s State-level visit to the RoK. Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung said the festival was designed to introduce a range of excellent films from the two countries to Korean audiences, as well as overseas Vietnamese residing in the RoK. In addition, the event will serve to promote exchanges in the film industry between the two sides. Vietnamese film Anh thầy ngôi sao (Superstar teacher) produced by CJ Entertainment Vietnam in 2019, as well as cartoon Giấc mơ gỏi cuốn (Spring roll dream), which won the Lights On Women prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, kick-started the event.
