Vietnam to lose five 31st SEA Games gold medals due to doping

These athletes, all in track and field, are Quach Thi Lan, Khuat Phuong Anh, Vu Ngoc Ha, Hoang Thi Ngoc, and Le Ngoc Phuc. Following the forfeiture of the gold medals, the Vietnamese athletics team will see their gold medal tally down to 17 from 22. The doping offenders will also be subject to a four-year ban. The five Vietnamese athletes explained that they had used a type of supplement without knowing it contained banned substances. Prior to the announcement of the positive doping cases, Vietnam had eliminated these five from a list of athletes eligible to compete at the 2022 National Sports Games and the 32nd SEA Games, which is scheduled to take place in Cambodia from May 5 to 17. Aside from them, five others from Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia will get their medals at the 31st SEA Games revoked following their positive doping test results, according to the list of ten doping offenders released by the Southeast Asian Sports Council the same day. Two goals of the U22 Vietnamese men’s team were scored by striker Nguyen Van Tung in the 36th minute and Nguyen Thai Son in the 43rd minute, and an own goal was gifted by a Singaporean defender in the 80th minute.  In the last minute of injury time, the U22 Singaporean team pulled one back thanks to Vietnamese defender Vu Tien Long’s own goal. He is Kiyokata Yamaoka, who is 43 years old and has lived for more than 10 years in Vietnam. “It all began with a trip. Thousands attend Lim festival in Bac Ninh

The annual Lim festival falls on the 12th and 13th days of the first lunar month, or February 2 and February 3 this year. The festival mainly takes place in the Hong Van Mountain, or Lim Mountain area which attracts the most visitors. Diverse activities are held throughout the festival, including folk games, love duet singing, and calligraphy. A performance of love duet songs put on by children in Hoan Son commune of Tien Du district receives plenty of enthusiastic applause from locals and tourists. Female singers make trầu (betel and areca nut), an ancient snack, for visitors to enjoy at the festival. Some visitors ask for calligraphy works from scholars, a tradition in the new lunar year.
