Green Heritage week to be held in Hanoi on Nov 21-25

Themed “Meeting of humans and nature”, the event aims to promote and honour natural heritage sites of Vietnam, especially those recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the ministry said. It creates a chance for Vietnamese people, especially the youth, to show their responsibility, patriotism and pride for natural heritage sites, thereby, raising public awareness of the need to preserve biodiversity and prevent the impacts of climate change. The event also offers an opportunity for localities to exchange their experiences in preserving and upholding the values of natural heritage. A range of cultural activities will be held during the week, including a photo exhibition entitled “Vietnam’s Natural Heritage”. Vietnamese woman makes flowers from discarded fish scales

Quynh started to develop her interest in the craft after realizing the beauty of shiny fish scales discarded from the fish she used for cooking. “I started doing this in 2017, at first it was not easy, especially in purchasing the material,” she said.  “People were wary as they did not know what I would do with the discarded and stinky fish scales. “We took time to explain to the restaurants [where we came to buy fish scales] and they turned out to be supportive. “Now we have a stable source of materials.” Pham Nhu Quynh works on a product made from fish scales and other material. Photo: Ngoc Phuong / Tuoi Tre News It requires multiple steps for an artwork to be created from fish scales, including collecting the scales, cleaning and dying them before turning them into floral designs.  Other types of material such as dried flowers, clay, shells, rocks, woods, and more are also added to make decorations. According to Quynh, the hardest part is deodorizing fish scales.

Miss Vietnam 2022 to honour natural beauty of Vietnamese women

Son, who is also the Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper that runs the contest, made the statement at a press conference on November 4 to unveil the final round of Miss Vietnam 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City. Son emphasised that Miss Vietnam is one of the oldest beauty pageants in the country that honours the natural beauty of Vietnamese women, through a number of other beauty contests in the country accept candidates undergoing plastic surgery. According to Son, through the preliminary rounds, Miss Vietnam 2022 has selected a total of 58 potential candidates to progress to the national final round. The newest feature of Miss Vietnam 2022 is that the contest consists of a judging panel made up of well-known figures who have been part of the contest for the past years, including historian Duong Trung Quoc, Miss Vietnam 1992 Ha Kieu Anh, and anthropologist Prof. Dr. Hoang Tu Hung.  The final round of the pageant will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from November 8 to Nov

Vietnam, Netherlands Strengthen Cooperation in Crime Combat

The two countries have regularly maintained high-level visits and exchanges, conducted diverse activities to raise mutual understanding, and broaden collaboration in priority areas, the minister was cited by VietnamPlus as saying.
