The upcoming five-day holiday lasts from April 29 to May 3 to celebrate Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (April 29), Reunification Day (April 30), and International Workers’ Day (May 1). The market previously opened up on the final day every month at a location in Laos, about 3km from the border. Since 2019, the market has been moved to Nam Can international border gate and is held regularly on Sundays. Many local specialties can be found on sale at the border market. Handicraft items created by both Vietnamese and Lao people are available for purchase at the market. Trade exchanges through the border crossing help to serve local people’s demand for goods throughout the whole year.
