Hanoi, Da Nang to welcome Lunar New Year with epic firework shows

Fireworks will last for a total of 15 minutes and are set to start at midnight on January 21. Funding for the show will be contributed by a group of local businesses. This will be the first time in three years that the capital’s authorities have planned to organise the firework shows in order to usher in the Lunar New Year in all districts and towns in Hanoi, just as they did before the onset of COVID-19. This comes after Hanoi canceled the New Year fireworks and countdown celebrations back in 2021 due to the complicated developments relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The capital had previously put on a series of fireworks display at Thong Nhat Park as the only one venue to welcome the 2022 Lunar New Year. Elsewhere, Da Nang will celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year with immense joy and spectacular firework shows on the evening of January 21. Da Nang Hopes for Resumption of Direct Flight with Cambodia

Photo: VNA Da Nang city hopes for the early resumption of a direct air route between the central city and Cambodia to facilitate bilateral cooperation in trade and tourism, Standing Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said on December 26, VNA reported. Receiving Senator Mean Som An, chairwoman of the committee on health, social affairs, rehabilitation, youth, labour, vocational training and women affairs, and President of the Cambodia – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group of the Cambodian Senate, Triet stressed that the direct air route linking Da Nang and Siem Reap, exploited before 2020 and suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic since then, had contributed to boosting collaboration between the city and Cambodian partners in various fields.

HCM City airport prepares for peak season during Tet holiday

During the three-day New Year 2023 holiday between December 31 and January 2, 2023, roughly 720 flights are expected to depart from and arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport, carrying a total of 115,000 passengers. As part of efforts to ease overcrowding at the airport, plans have been devised in order to add check-in counters, waiting chairs for passengers at domestic and international gates, and improve the technical system. All staff are mobilised in a bid to serve the peak travel season. Passengers are therefore advised to arrive at the airport two hours prior to their departure time for domestic flights and three hours in advance for international flights. The airport will open additional aprons and taxiways before the start of the New Year holiday in a bid to help reduce traffic congestion. Painting exhibition on oriental culture opens in Hanoi

An exhibition entitled “The Ancient Imprint of the Civilization,” features 19 paintings by eight Hanoian artists, was opened at the Temple of Literature on December 25. Photo: To Quoc  According to the organizers, the exhibition conveys the passion for the national cultural heritage in general and the Temple of Literature in particular of young artists, who are always dedicated to preserving and promoting the values of Vietnamese heritages. The experiential artworks are presented in various painting techniques and materials, including ink and smoke on paper, woodcarving, screen printing, and bronze casting, among others. The exhibition’s highlights are the works called “Ancient Book 1” and “Ancient Book 2” by painter Vu Xuan Dong on bronze and lacquer, depicting the beautiful landscapes of the Temple of Literature as well as the daily life of Hanoians of yesteryear.
