Viet Expats Compete in Football Tournament in UK

The Vietnamese Association in the United Kingdom (VAUK) and Nova Supply Company on April 30 held the 5th Vietnamese football tournament in the UK named Kamito Cup 2023 to mark the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK (1973-2023).

The tournament attracted the participation of 21 teams of Vietnamese living and working in different regions to compete at Westham Stadium in London.

Hundreds of Vietnamese people living and working in many different regions across the UK have come to the stadium to cheer for the teams. Accompanying the organizers of the tournament for many years has been Nova Supply Co., and Kamito – the famous sportswear brand from Vietnam participating in sponsoring the tournament for the first time.

The Kamito Cup 2023 aims to create a healthy and emotional playground for the teams, athletes and spectators. In addition to sports competitions, the tournament also includes a number of other useful activities such as cultural exchanges, sightseeing tours and exchanges within the Vietnamese community in the UK.

Attending and speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Canh Cuong, Trade Counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK, affirmed that the national reunification day is an opportunity for every Vietnamese to remember and honor the contributions of revolutionary elders, heroes and soldiers who sacrificed their lives to unify and defend the Fatherland.

Cuong also expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the leadership of VAUK, the Vietnam Business Association in the UK (VBUK), Nova Supply and sponsor Kamito for collaborating to hold the tournament on this meaningful occasion, contributing to connecting the community, spreading the sportsmanship, optimism and positivity of Vietnamese people in all circumstances.

VAUK General Secretary Nguyen Minh Tuyen said that the football tournament aims to connect and enhance exchanges between people, associations and businesses in the Vietnamese community.

Tuyen affirmed that VAUK will always accompany sponsors to organize the annual tournament, and at the same time will select teams in the UK to participate in tournaments of the Vietnamese community in Europe, including tournament in Poland scheduled to take place in August 2023.

In the end, the Anh Em FC team, consisting of many players from Nghe An province, won the Premier League title after a spectacular 4-0 victory in the final against Tam Le FC. Hai Phong FC won the C1 Cup while Nam Dinh FC won the C2 Cup.

The Kamito Cup 2023 was successfully held and became an occasion to strengthen solidarity, exchange and cooperation in the Vietnamese community in the UK, promote cultural values, sportsmanship and improving the health of overseas Vietnamese, making practical contributions to the development of friendly cooperation relations between Vietnam and the UK.
