Cai Rang floating market – a fantastic tourist destination in Mekong Delta

The market is now a popular destination among international tourists who come to samples local specialties, and more importantly to explore the people’s lifestyle.

The site is among the most popular destinations in the Mekong Delta region, attracting approximately 120,000 arrivals in January 2023 alone.

It is open every day from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. with approximately 500 boats operating and offering services to visitors.

As well as selling fruits and vegetables in Can Tho, it also offers special farm products that come from neighbouring provinces.

The Mekong Delta region’s foods, specialties, and handicraft products are also put on sale at the market.

Small boats carrying lots of goods are readily available for tourists to choose .

Sampling traditional food is a great way for tourists to discover the culture of each region.

Tables are set up on boats so tourists have the chance to taste the local food on offer.

Foreigners enjoy listening to stories about daily lives and finding out about mobile houses in the floating market.

On the weekend, visitors can see boats carrying artists to perform Don ca tai tu, or southern folk songs, in the floating market.

Tourists can learn all about the lives of local people through their daily activities.

A child is excited at making cakes by herself.

Tourists experience making cakes and buying specialties in the floating market.

The market was officially recognised as part of national intangible cultural heritage back in 2016.

The Cai Rang floating market is one of the most-visited destinations that visitors should not miss out on when going to the Mekong Delta region.
