Vietnamese spend big on tours to watch 2022 World Cup in Qatar

After the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup took place, Vietnamese fans’ demand for tours to Qatar to watch the international sports event has gradually increased, said Ngo Minh Duc, chairman of Gotadi Company.

The demand for tickets to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finale is currently the highest, Duc continued.

Gotadi has been serving nearly 80 guests to Qatar to watch the 2022 World Cup, he added.

“These package tours with a specific departure schedule have a fairly high price, and the target customers are group and family travelers,” Duc elaborated.

Hoan My Travel Company is also offering tours to Qatar to enjoy the World Cup final.

Tourists will depart on December 17 with a price of VND215 million ($8,600) per person for four days and three nights.

Hong Ngoc Ha Company, the exclusive distributor of tickets to the 2022 World Cup in Vietnam, is selling ticket combos for the group stage at about VND45.6 million ($1,840) per match.

A package tour to watch a group-stage match, lasting five days and four nights, costs VND150-270 million ($6,000-10,900).

“Despite the high price, the purchasing power is quite good, with tours to watch the final almost sold out,” a representative of Hong Ngoc Ha stated.

“Many Vietnamese travelers decided to spend more than VND1 billion [$40,300] to have a nice seat and high-class service.”

At Fiditour – Vietlux, customers tend to purchase individual services instead of package tours, according to Tran Thi Bao Thu, marketing and communications director.

Airfare is from $1,730, hotel room rates from $650, and a ticket to watch a match from $600, Thu elaborated.

A representative of TST tourist said that the company will provide service for a group of 17 travelers departing from Ho Chi Minh City to watch the last match of the tournament.

Vietravel’s representative said that the firm only designs tours at the request of customers, because each customer cheers for a different team.

“We are also offering tours to watch semifinal and final games, each costing from VND150 million,” the representative said.
