Promoting Vietnam – China comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership

This is his first trip overseas after he was re-elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam at its 13th national congress in January 2021.

He is also the first foreign leader to visit China after the Chinese Communist Party held its 22nd national congress in Beijing in mid-October 2022.

Chinese Party leader Xi hosts a welcoming ceremony for his Vietnamese counterpart Trong and his entourage at the Great hall of the People in Beijing on October 31.

After the ceremony, both leaders hold talks to review the Vietnam – China relations and outline orientations for future cooperation.

China places high importance on strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership with Vietnam, says Xi.

Vietnam gives top priority to developing the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership with Vietnam, says Trong.

The two leaders also exchange views on a number of regional and global issues of mutual concern.

They then review cooperation documents signed by ministries, agencies and localities of the two countries.

Later Xi honours Trong with China’s Friendship Medal in recognition of his contributions to promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between China and Vietnam.

In his speech, Xi hails Trong as a steadfast leader that has outlined orientations for consolidating and fostering the Vietnam – China relations.

Xi says the honouring demonstrates friendly feelings of the Chinese Communist Party and people towards the Vietnamese leader and people, symbolizing the close bond between China and Vietnam.

The presentation, according to the Chinese leader, shows the two Parties and peoples’ desire to pursue a better future in the coming time.

The Vietnamese leader thanks the Chinese Party, State and people for the honour, which he says is of significance and a great source of encouragement to the development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and China.

“I personally will try my best in my position, alongside the Vietnamese the Party, State and people, to develop the Vietnam – China relations in a healthy, stable and sustainable manner,” says Trong.

The Chinese leader later asks the Vietnamese leader to join a tea party.

The two leaders express their desires to enhance political trust between the two countries.
