Top places in Hanoi associated with August Revolution and National Day

The square usually plays host to major national events and is also a tourism hotspot for both locals and travelers.

The rally to launch the uprising to seize power in the country was organised by the Viet Minh Front at the Hanoi Opera House on August 19, 1945.

The Government Guest House is a classic French building located at 12 Ngo Quyen street and was used to be known as Tonkin Palace. The house was originally built in 1918 and survived both the French and American wars. In 1945, President Ho Chi Minh moved into the site and it changed its name to Bac Bo Phu.

Trang Tien street was previously known as Rue Paul Bert during the French colonial period and was the most modern street throughout the capital at that time.

Situated in Hang Dao ward of Hoan Kiem district in Hanoi, the house at 48 Hang Ngang street is a historical place where President Ho Chi Minh penned the Declaration of Independence.

An array of historical objects are kept intact inside the house, thereby making it an attractive destination for residents and visitors to the capital.
