Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival excites crowds in Hai Duong

The autumn festival commemorates the death anniversary of 13th century national hero General Tran Hung Dao who led the country to victory over Mongolian invaders, as well as the death anniversary of 15th century national hero Nguyen Trai.

The seal-opening ceremony is held following two-year disruption caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisers plan to offer 50,000 seals to visitors.

The Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2022 is held from the 10th to 20th day of the eighth lunar month, or September 5 to September 15 this year.

The purpose of the festival this year is to mark the 722th death anniversary of General Tran Hung Dao, also known as Tran Quoc Tuan, one of the most revered figures in Vietnamese history.

A wide range of activities get underway during the course of the event, including art performances, a boat procession, and martial art performances.

A boat procession takes place on the Luc Dau river.

During the evening the Luc Dau river is the scene for a lantern festival.

Thousands of lotus-shaped lanterns are released as part of the event.

A trade fair is also held on the sidelines of the festival.
