Central Vietnam several hours ahead of Noru landfall

A major street in UNESCO-recognised city of Hoi An has turned quiet, and rain has started to fall in the city.

In Quang Tri province, several residential houses have been damaged by heavy rain and strong wind.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, who is head of the command to deal with Noru consequences has made a fact-finding trip to Quang Tri to examine its preparedness.

Soldiers have been mobilized to reinforce residential houses in Binh Dinh province.

Streets have become quiet as residents have been advised to stay indoors.

Needy residents have received support to move to safe places.

A big tree has been brought down by strong wind and heavy rain in Da Nang.

. In the afternoon, a residential evacuation campaign was underway in Quang Tri province.

Among them are the elderly, women, and children who live in flood and landslide prone areas.

Rain started to pour down in Quang Nam as it was getting dark.

No one has been seen on streets in Tam Ky city of Quang Nam province.

At a storm shelter in Quang Nam, people are happy that they have moved to a safe place.

Among them are elderly people, women and disadvantaged people.

Pregnant women and children are amongst those who receive first priority.

. Super typhoon Noru packing winds of 166kph is expected to make landfall in the early hours of September 28.
