Athletic Activities to Celebrate Vietnam – Laos Friendship and Solidarity
On September 9, in Hanoi, the Lao Embassy in Vietnam organized a football tournament for friendly exchanges between the Embassy and Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and related sectors.

This is an activity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 – September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos (July 18). 1977 – July 18, 2022).
Attending the tournament were 8 teams from the Embassy of Laos, the Foreign Affairs Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Defense), Foreign Affairs Department (Ministry of Public Security), The Ho Chi Minh CentralYouth Union, People’s Police Academy, Steve Bui’s Foundation.

Addressing the sports exchange event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Laos in Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang emphasized that the solidarity and friendship in this football exchange will contribute to the strengthening and further development of the Laos – Vietnam relationship.
Representing the team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam (MOFA), Chairman of the Trade Union of MOFA Phan Kieu Thu thanked Laotian friends for organizing the practical and meaningful activities. She hoped that the echoes of today’s matches will become beautiful memories in each player, making a positive contribution to strengthening Vietnam – Laos relations.

On the afternoon of September 9, in the capital Vientiane, the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee also coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos to organize a friendly sports exchange.

This friendly sports exchange brings together nearly 100 athletes who are officials and employees working at the Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee, the Vietnamese Embassy, and other agencies. Players competed in the sport of pétanque.
Speaking at the event, Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Khamjaen Vongphosi said friendly sports exchanges are one of the meaningful activities to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022.
The Minister affirmed that in addition to sports exchanges, this is also an opportunity for officials and employees of the two sides to have the opportunity to learn and talk with each other, helping to coordinate as well as help each other at work.
Minister Khamjane also highly appreciated the cooperation relationship between the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos in recent years. Fỏ the Year of Friendship and Solidarity 2022, the two sides have had many activities to tackle difficulties in Vietnam’s investment projects in Laos, contributing to consolidating and cultivating the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
In his speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung affirmed that as two advisory bodies for two parties and two states, the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos will continue to closely coordinate, build a favorable investment and business environment, help businesses of the two countries develop and achieve better results in the future.
