Admiring sunrise over Van Don-Mong Cai expressway

Work on the 80km long road first began in April 2019, costing more than VND11 trillion.

The four-lane expressway permits vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 120 kilometres per hour.

The travel time between Van Don district and Mong Cai City has now been reduced to 50 minutes instead of the previous time of two hours.

The road features up to 32 bridges crossing rivers and the sea, including seven bridges running along the Van Don-Tien Yen section and another 25 along the Tien Yen-Mong Cai section.

This part of the structure also includes the 1,515m Van Tien Bridge, which is Quang Ninh’s largest sea-spanning bridge.

The new expressway is expected to promote the development of key economic zones of Quang Ninh province, including the Van Don economic zone, and the Mong Cai Border Gate Economic Zone.

In particular, the expressway also plays an important role in linking all major economic and administrative centres of Quang Ninh.

It also helps contribute to the socio-economic development in Quang Ninh, as well as in the northern key economic region.
