Thousands of people from across the 10 Vietnamese provinces of Dien Bien, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Son La, Thua Thien-Hue, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Nam, and Kon Tum will attend the festival.

They will be joined by participants from 10 Laotian provinces, including Luang Prabang, Huaphanh, Attapeu, Sekong, Xiengkhuang, Borikhamxay, Khammouan, Savannakhet, Saravane, and Phongsaly.

The event is scheduled to include musical performances, fashion shows featuring traditional costumes, as well as exhibitions showcasing the numerous cultural products of both countries.

Along with an exhibition on ethnic minority groups in border areas, sports games and conferences on tourism development will also take place.

The function is part of a range of activities held in celebration of the 60th anniversary of joint diplomatic ties on September 5 and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam -Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation on July 18.
